In addition to technical brilliance, it is above all the combination of intellectual-spiritual penetration and sensitive-empathetic shaping of their programmes that has made Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl an international beacon of piano duos for over 30 years. After studies in Stuttgart, Frankfurt and London (with Stephen Kovacevich and Alfred Brendel, among others) and eleven renowned competition prizes (including ARD 1986, Dranoff 1989), a stringent career followed with appearances on the most important stages all over the world, both as soloists and with famous conductors (Gustavo Dudamel, Helmuth Rilling, among others), as well as much-acclaimed CD recordings. As sought-after professors, the two brothers teach at the conservatories in Stuttgart (Hans-Peter), Trossingen (Volker) and in Rostock, where they were appointed to the world's first professorship for piano duo in 2012.
Numerous international prizewinners reflect the success of their inspiring pedagogy.
