Taillevent

According to accounts, Guillaume Tirel, born in 1310 and also known as Taillevent, worked from an early age in the kitchens of the then queen. His book ‘Le Viandier’, written when he was 30, is thought to have been the first book ever written by a chef on cuisine and gastronomy. This book remains today an important source of reference in modern French cuisine.
